Ms. Bongiwe Njobe is an accomplished independent consultant with over 39 years’ experience in agricultural policy practice, fast-moving food and beverage consumer goods, sustainable development strategy development and change management in the public, private and non-governmental sector in Africa and internationally. Ms. Njobe at one time was the Director General (DG) at the National Department of Agriculture, in South Africa, where she oversaw the development of policy and the implementation of agricultural development programs and facilitated international collaboration efforts in the AR4D sector including working with the CGIAR and FARA. In her term as DG of agriculture, Ms. Njobe launched the annual Female Farmer of Year Awards, which recognizes the work of women in the South African agricultural sector. She previously served as the Chair for the Global Forum for Agriculture Research (GFAR). Currently she is self employed and sits as a Director or Trustee on various public, private sector including as Chairperson of the Perishable Products Exports Certification Agency (South Africa) and the Rhodes Food Group where she chairs the Social and Ethics Committee.
